A Kansas City, Kan., teenager was treated for minor smoke inhalation at the scene of a fire Sunday night at an apartment building at 2015 S. Mill St., Kansas City, Kan.
The 16-year-old was taken nonemergency to the hospital, treated and released, a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department stated.
On arrival at the fire, within 5 minutes of the call, crews saw heavy fire coming from the third flood of the building.
The Fire Department spokesman stated the fire was located in the bedroom of one apartment, and had spread. The fire was knocked down in 20 minutes.
The fire at 8:32 p.m. Nov. 2 is under investigation by the fire investigator, the spokesman said.
The apartment building was valued at $1 million before the fire, and the estimated loss to structure and contents was $60,000, according to the Fire Department.
