Teacher in KCK public schools charged with sexual exploitation of child

Jason M. Crum, a teacher in the Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools, was charged with sexual exploitation of a child in the Johnson County District Court.

The Johnson County district attorney’s office confirmed that the charge against Crum was sexual exploitation of a child under KSA 21-5510.

Crum, 42, a resident of Shawnee, Kansas, was arrested on Sept. 6 and booked into the Johnson County Jail, and released on bond on Sept. 7, according to the jail records. The charge is a felony.

The case was assigned to Division 13 in the Johnson County Court, with bond set at $100,000. Crum was listed on the Banneker School’s website as a third-grade teacher.

The next court appearance was scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 18, according to the court records.

The Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools issued this statement: “Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools was recently made aware of that one of its teachers has been charged with inappropriate behavior involving a child. That individual has been placed on Administrative Leave. KCKPS takes incidents such as these seriously and is cooperating with law enforcement in this matter.”
