Democratic candidate Jean Schodorf today called for an end to outside employment for the Kansas secretary of state.

Secretary of state should be a full-time position, she said.

She made her remarks March 15 at the Wyandotte County Third Saturday Democratic Breakfast at the Hilton Garden Inn, Kansas City, Kan. It was the 10th anniversary of the breakfast.

Schodorf said she favored making the office business-friendly, encouraging businesses, including new startup businesses, to come to the state.

She also said she would like to eliminate a lot of restrictions that make it harder to vote in Kansas.

More than 200 people attended the meeting today, along with city, county and state public officials.

State Sen. Pat Pettey, D-6th Dist., gave an update on bills in the Kansas Legislature.
