Cloudy, cool start to Friday

Cloudy skies with cool breezes greeted residents on Friday morning.

Temperatures were 40 degrees at 9 a.m., with a high today predicted of 50.

The sun may come out later in the day, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

A northwest wind will be around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph today.

Tonight’s forecast is mostly clear with a low of 34. Winds may gust as high as 18 mph.

Saturday’s forecast is sunny and a high of 59.

On Sunday, there is a 20 percent chance of showers with a high of 62.

Monday brings a 40 percent chance of showers with a high of 59, and Tuesday, 20 percent chance of rain with a high of 57.

Storm located south and east of KCK

Skies were partly cloudy Thursday afternoon with a temperature of 71 degrees in Kansas City, Kan.
Wyandotte County was not under any watches or warnings as of Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. There was a 60 percent chance of rain or storms on Thursday afternoon. Winds will pick up Thursday evening and night, according to the National Weather Service.
Areas of central Missouri, including Cass County, Mo., and Johnson County, Mo., were under a tornado watch on Thursday afternoon.

A severe thunderstorm was about 6 miles north of Clinton, Mo.
Additionally, a flood warning was in effect for portions of central Kansas and central Missouri. Among areas that might experience flooding are Warrensburg, Mo., and Sedalia, Mo.

Thursday’s forecast includes a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after noon.

Skies will be cloudy with a high near 64 on Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service, Wyandotte County is under a slight risk for severe weather today, while an area of central Missouri is under a moderate risk.

This severe weather between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., contains a higher risk of tornadoes, large hail and severe weather in central Missouri.  Storms should move out of the region by 9 p.m. and midnight.

Tonight brings a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms before 10 p.m. in Wyandotte County, then a slight chance of showers between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. The weather will turn windy with 17 to 21 mph wind speeds and gusts up to 29 mph.

Friday’s weather wlll be mostly sunny, with a high near 50. The breezy weather continues with winds from 18 to 22 mph, with gusts as high of 30 mph.
