Thunderstorm moves through area

A thunderstorm was moving through Wyandotte County around 1 p.m. Sunday, April 13.

The National Weather Service said showers and a thunderstorm also are possible after 5 p.m. Sunday.

Some of the storms may produce heavy rainfall. About a half to three-quarters of an inch of rain is possible today.

Also, there is a threat of strong winds, gusting up to 60 mph and hail with these storms.

Rain mixed with snow is in the forecast for Monday, the weather service said.

There could be a hard freeze Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Sunny skies ahead today

Sunny skies are ahead for Friday, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Starting with partly sunny skies, the weather gradually will become sunny today. Temperatures will reach a high of 73. Winds will be 3 to 8 mph from the south southeast.

Saturday’s forecast is partly sunny, with a high near 80. Winds will be 9 to 18 mph Saturday, with gusts as high as 26 mph.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely Saturday night, mainly after 1 a.m. Between a quarter and a half-inch of rain is possible.

Sunday, showers and thunderstorms are likely, with a high of 68. Winds may gust as high as 23 mph. There may be between a half and three-quarters of an inch of rain.

Nice weather in store for Wyandotte County on Thursday

Skies will be partly sunny today, with a high near 70, according to the National Weather Service.

Winds will be 10 to 18 mph becoming north northeast in the afternoon.

Winds may gust as high as 26 mph.

A high fire danger is possible later today, as relative humidity values may drop to around 25 percent, the weather service said.

Residents are asked to avoid outdoor burning.

Thunderstorms may move into the area this weekend, likely Saturday night, and will last through Sunday, according to the weather service.

Periods of widespread heavy rain are possible then. Wyandotte County could receive 1.75 to 2 inches of rain, according to the weather service forecast.
