More rain in forecast

Additional bouts of moderate to heavy rainfall are expected today, according to the National Weather Service.

Additional rainfall will exacerbate flooding especially in locations that received heavy rainfall on Wednesday, the weather service said.

Another inch of rain is possible, according to today’s forecast. Locations along and south of the Missouri River may experience the heaviest rainfall, the weather service said.

Mostly dry conditions are expected this weekend, with temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s, according to the weather service.

Today, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers are likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 80 with a north northwest wind of 5 to 9 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Tonight, there is a 70 percent chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 8 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m., then a chance of showers after 11 p.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 68 with a north northeast wind of 7 to 10 mph. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

On Friday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers before 8 a.m., with a high near 81, and a north northeast wind of 7 to 11 mph, the weather service said. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible.

Friday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 62 and a north northeast wind of 5 to 10 mph becoming light north after midnight, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 83 and a calm wind, the weather service said.

While no severe weather is expected at this time, it’s possible there could be some isolated flooding, especially along the flashier streams, according to the weather service.

Larger streams are also expected to see some rises through the late week, the weather service said.

The midweek heavier rains could lead to some flooding concerns, the weather service said. Severe storms are not expected at this time.
