A new storm system will move into the area midweek, bringing a chance of rain on Wednesday and the possibility of a little snow late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, according to the weather service.

A dense fog advisory is in effect in Wyandotte County through noon Monday, Jan. 4, according to the National Weather Service.

Visibilities are down to three-quarters of a mile in some areas, the weather service said.

Freezing fog can cause surfaces to be slick, and motorists need to be careful of bridges and overpasses, according to the weather service. Also, those who are walking need to be careful of sidewalks.

In the week ahead, there will be a chance of rain on Wednesday, and possibly, snow late Wednesday night.

Today, there will be patchy dense fog before noon, according to the National Weather Service forecast. The high will be near 43. It will gradually become sunny. A southwest wind of 6 to 10 mph will become northwest in the afternoon.
