Several planning and zoning items on Thursday’s UG Commission agenda

The Unified Government Commission will meet at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25.

On the 7 p.m. agenda are some planning and zoning items, including from the former Woodlands property, as well as from the Turner Logistics Center.

Also on the agenda is the sale of $50.3 million in general obligation improvement municipal temporary notes. The sale of city general obligation improvement bonds of $45.7 million also is on the agenda.

In addition, the UG Commission will consider a resolution to enter into an amended base lease and lease structure with the Public Building Commission to construct capital improvements to the exiting courthouse and adult jail.

At the special session at 5 p.m. will be a presentation on the five-year capital maintenance improvement plan, followed by a Stabilization, Occupation and Revitalization (SOAR) update.

UG committees to meet Monday night

The Unified Government Public Works and Safety Committee and the Administration and Human Services Committee are scheduled to meeting Monday night.

The Public Works and Safety Committee will meet at 5 p.m. Feb. 22 in a Zoom meeting.

On the PWS agenda is an update on the community connect program and the use of body-worn cameras by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

On the agenda for the Administration and Human Services meeting is an update on CARES Act funding.

UG Commission to meet tonight

The Unified Government Commission is scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. tonight, Feb. 11.

On the agenda for the 7 p.m. meeting:
• A report on the UG Commission’s travel and community event expenditures for 2020.
• An ordinance to institute legal proceedings to acquire land for the 7th and Central intersection improvements.
• A resolution to adopt an agreement with Bonner Springs for construction of quiet zone improvements on Swingster Road.
• A resolution to approve revisions to the capital asset and equipment investment and management policy.
• An amendment to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment subrecipient agreement for the second year, overdose data to action local projects.
• A resolution to set a public hearing of March 25 for the creation of a redevelopment district at 6700 Kaw Drive (formerly Happy Foods West).
• A plat of the Rakoski addition at Leavenworth Road and 123rd Street.
• Land Bank option applications, including two single-family homes at 144 N. 61st, Tyrone Harrison, and 841 Shawnee Road, Erin Stryka; one garage at 741 Shawene Road, Jesus Mendoza; and one property option, 1904 S. 73rd Terrace, Chris Handlin.
