Injuries reported in turnpike accident

Drivers from Kansas City, Kansas, and from Lawrence, Kansas, were injured in an accident at 2:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26, on westbound I-70 in Leavenworth County, according to a trooper’s report.

A 35-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, man was driving a Hyundai sport utility vehicle on westbound I-70 when the Hyundai rear-ended an Acura ILX, according to the trooper’s report.

The Acura lost control, struck the median barrier and overturned, traveling off the right side of the road and coming to rest in a grassy embankment, the trooper’s report stated.

A 52-year-old Lawrence, Kansas, man in the Acura was taken to a hospital with a possible serious injury, the report stated.

The Kansas City, Kansas, driver of the Hyundai also was taken to the hospital with a possible minor injury, according to the report.

Driver falls asleep, hits guardrail on I-635

A driver fell asleep while driving on northbound I-635 near Metropolitan Avenue this morning.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report, the driver of an Acura TL was northbound on I-635 when the driver fell asleep.

When the driver awakened, he had to swerve to miss hitting a concrete barrier wall, the report stated. He left the roadway and hit a guardrail around 6:35 a.m. Feb. 24, according to the report.

The driver, a 22-year-old man from Kansas City, Kansas, had a possible minor injury and was taken to a hospital, the report stated.
