Ramp closure delayed by rain

A scheduled ramp closure today from northbound I-35 to the northbound I-635 ramp in Johnson County will not take place because of the rain, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

The ramp closure has been rescheduled between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Friday, April 25. The ramp was also closed Wednesday for attenuator replacement work.

Northbound I-35 drivers are asked to use the 18th Street Expressway interchange to exit and then may head southbound on I-35 to access the northbound I-635 ramp, according to KDOT.

Motorists are asked to slow down in the work area.

 

KCK man dies in I-635 crash

A Kansas City, Kan., man died April 22 in a crash on I-635 just south of the K-5 exit, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

Kevin M. Fisk, 60, of Kansas City, Kan., died in the accident, the report stated.

A 35-year-old Olathe, Kan., man who was a passenger in the vehicle was injured and taken to a hospital, the report stated.

At 2:25 a.m. April 22, a Mitsubishi Diamante was southbound on I-635, according to the trooper’s report. While making a right-hand curve in the road, the driver overcorrected and the vehicle went off the right side of the roadway, the report stated. The vehicle overturned numerous times.

Tire crosses barrier wall, hits car in oncoming I-70 traffic

A tire came off a car being towed on I-70 east of 18th Street on Monday, crossed a barrier wall and hit a windshield and roof of a Nissan Sentra.

A 39-year-old Salina, Kan., woman inside the Nissan was injured and taken to a hospital in Kansas City, Kan., according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

The accident happened about 1:24 p.m. Monday, April 21.

The tow truck was eastbound and the Nissan was westbound on I-70, the report stated.

A Chevy pickup was towing a 1994 Lincoln Towncar in the eastbound lanes. The driver of the pickup, a 27-year-old Oak Grove, Mo., man, was not injured, according to the report.
