Storm leaves an inch or two of snow on ground
An overnight storm has left an inch or two of snow on the ground on Wednesday morning.
Several accidents were reported Wednesday morning on area highways. Motorists are advised to be careful of slick spots on the roads today, as the high will reach only 27.
But snow won’t be on the ground too long, as temperatures will rise to 37 on Thursday and 50 on Friday, according to the National Weather Service forecast. Gusty winds are possible on Saturday.
The next chance of precipitation was expected Saturday, when there will be rain and warmer temperatures, according to the weather service.
Today, it will be cloudy, with a high near 27 and a north wind of 6 to 8 mph, the weather service said.
Tonight, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 20 and a north wind of 6 mph becoming light and variable, according to the weather service.
Thursday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 37 and a south wind of 5 to 10 mph, the weather service said.
Thursday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 30 and a south wind of 6 to 9 mph, according to the weather service.
Friday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 50 and a south wind of 8 to 13 mph, the weather service said.
Friday night, there is a 20 percent chance of rain after midnight, with a low of 39, according to the weather service.
Saturday, there is an 80 percent chance of rain with a high near 49, the weather service said.
Saturday night, there is a 30 percent chance of rain before midnight, with a low of 32, according to the weather service.
Sunday, it will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 40, the weather service said.
Sunday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 27, according to the weather service.
Monday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 46, the weather service said.
Monday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 28, according to the weather service.

Accident on I-70 near 5th Street ramp injures KCK man
An accident was reported at 8:50 a.m. Wednesday on eastbound I-70 just north of the 5th Street exit ramp in Kansas City, Kansas, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.
A Toyota Corolla was going about 10 mph when it tried to take the exit ramp to 5th Street in the far right lane, according to the trooper’s report. It was struck by a Dodge Ram truck that was pulling a trailer, the report stated.
The Corolla left the roadway and hit an exit sign, according to the trooper’s report.
The driver of the Corolla, a 46-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, man, was taken to a hospital with a possible serious injury, the report stated.
The driver of the Dodge truck, a 41-year-old man from Hyattsville, Maryland, had no apparent injury, according to the report.
