The Kansas City T-Bones scored the winning run in the ninth inning, and held on to a 2-1 win against the Goldeyes Sunday afternoon in Winnipeg, Canada.
The T-Bones trailed 1-0 after the Goldeyes struck for their only run of the game in the sixth inning, with an RBI single from Casey Haerther.
The lead was short-lived, courtesy of Adam Bailey’s eighth home run of the season in the top of the seventh inning. The home run was the only mistake Goldeyes starting pitcher Edwin Carl made. Carl tossed six strong innings and racked up 10 strikeouts in a no-decision.
The Kansas City T-Bones, got a dominating starting performance by RHP Bobby Doran, who pitched six innings of three-hit, one-run baseball.
The T-Bones were tied 1-1 in the ninth inning, and got a leadoff single from Jacob Hayes, who scored from third, two-outs later, on a wild pitch from Winnipeg closer Jailen Peguero (2-2), to give Kansas City a 2-1 lead.
Fernando Fernandez, who picked up his 13th save of the season, pitched a perfect ninth to preserve the win for Kansas City. Aaron Baker (2-0) picked up the win for Kansas City, with two scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
The T-Bones (35-27) conclude the six-game road trip Monday afternoon against the Winnipeg Goldeyes (31-35), with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m.
