With Vladimir Frias and Ryan Cavan providing the firepower, the T-Bones walloped the Wichita Wingnuts, 6-3, on Friday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark, Kansas City, Kan.
About 6,881 were in attendance.
T-Bones’ pitcher Blake Holovach got the win, allowing only one run in seven innings, striking out two. He gave up five hits and four walks.
Frias, who leads the team with five homers, hit a home run in the third inning, giving the T-Bones a 1-0 lead.
Frias flied to right with the bases loaded in the fourth inning, getting a run batted in.
After Brian Erie walked, the bases were loaded with two outs when Ryan Cavan hit a double down the left field line. Cavan got three runs batted in and the T-Bones led, 5-1.
T.J. Mittelstaedt, who played for the T-Bones last season, hit a two-run home run for Wichita.
Kansas City scored its final run in the fifth inning. Adam Bailey, who had hit a single and advanced to second on a single by Kyle Robinson and to third on a single by Nate Tenbrink, scored on a wild pitch.
The T-Bones and Wingnuts will play at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Saturday is Military Appreciation Night, with CPR training and postgame fireworks planned.
