The Kansas City T-Bones have announced that the club will be honoring Brad Lancaster, the detective from the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department who was killed in the line of duty on May 9, and all other area law enforcement beginning with the club’s 2016 opening night game on Thursday.
During Thursday night’s game, the T-Bones will be displaying Detective Lancaster’s badge number on the field at CommunityAmerica Ballpark, and a tribute of photos of Detective Lancaster, provided by his fellow officers at the KCKPD, will be played on the video board. Additionally, the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department Honor Guard will be presenting the colors. Members of Detective Lancaster’s family will be present at the game for the ceremony.
“The T-Bones organization appreciates the effort and dedication of all men and women in uniform,” said T-Bones president Adam Ehlert. “They keep us safe, day and night, without hesitation—just as Detective Lancaster did, unwaveringly. He especially had an impact upon the Village West and Piper communities. I know our fans are appreciative of that effort, and will honor the bittersweet memory of his sacrifice.”
As a way to thank all members of the greater Kansas City police community, the T-Bones are giving two free tickets to any police officer with identification, to any game, based on availability, during the team’s opening homestand, May 19-25.
“We’ve worked closely with the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department since our first season in 2003,” said T-Bones vice president and general manager Chris Browne. “So, to be able to pay tribute to Detective Lancaster and his family, as well as other members of law enforcement in our community is humbling.”
Tickets for the games may be purchased at the Providence Medical Center Box Office at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
