The T-Bones have re-signed MVP pitcher Kris Regas.
Regas, who turned 35 in November, set the T-Bones single-season club record for saves with 22, which was tied for third in the American Association in 2014.
He led the T-Bones with a 2.70 ERA and tied for the most wins on the club (7). Regas was the lone T-Bones representative at the American Association All-Star Game in late July.
“It’s great to have Kris back for 2015,” said T-Bones manager John Massarelli. “Besides being our MVP and most consistent pitcher last year, he gives us another great veteran presence in the clubhouse.”
Regas, who’s the eighth player signed to a 2015 contract with the T-Bones, is the first player re-signed from the 2014 club.
“I had a great time playing in Kansas City last season and can’t wait to be back in 2015,” Regas said. “Mazz has added some very strong players to the roster that I believe will put us in the top tier of the American Association.”
2015 will mark Regas’ 13th professional season. Most of his time has been spent in independent leagues, with the exception of 2004, when he was in the New York Mets farm system, and 2009, when he played in the Detroit system, including part of the season at triple-A Toledo.
The left-handed Regas has a career record of 36-31 with 76 saves and a 3.68 ERA in 409 appearances (610 2/3 innings). Regas has struck out 572 and walked 196.
