The T-Bones dropped the finale Sunday afternoon, 6-1, against Texas at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, Kan.
Texas took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning courtesy of a solo home run by Cody Lenahan, his 10th of the season. The AirHogs added another run in the third and three more in the fourth for a 5-0 lead. The big blow in the fourth inning came on a two-run home run from Juan Sanchez, his 10th of the season.
The T-Bones finally got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning, with a Starlin Rodriguez home run, which cut the deficit to 5-1.
Texas would get the run back in the top of the sixth inning, though, as Brian Bistagne drove in Sanchez, who doubled with one out. That capped the scoring at 6-1.
T-Bones starting pitcher Josh Hodges (4-7) was charged with six earned runs, 10 hits and he struck out six in 6 innings.
Texas starting pitcher Griffin Russell (2-9) picked up the win after he allowed just one run and four hits in 6 1/3 innings of work.
With the loss, the T-Bones, which won all seven games in last week’s homestand, dropped two of three games to the AirHogs.
Kansas City (39-47) returns to CommunityAmerica Ballpark for a three-game series that starts Tuesday evening at 7:05 against the Laredo Lemurs. Tickets are available by calling the Providence Medical Center Box Office at CommunityAmerica Ballpark at 913-328-5618.
