Suspects surrender after standoff in KCK

SFour suspects who were barricaded inside a residence surrendered after a short standoff tonight in the 2000 block of North 1st Street in Kansas City, Kan.

A police spokesman said the incident started with a kidnapping report.

At 4:56 p.m. today, a victim gave a teller at Bank Midwest at 78th and State Avenue a note saying she was being held against her will, police said. Bank staff called the police, the spokesman said. When police arrived, they took an adult male into custody.

The victim told detectives that four other suspects were holding her boyfriend hostage on North 1st Street.

Officers went to the location, where the suspects were barricaded inside a residence. The suspects willingly surrendered after a short standoff, according to police.

Both victims had minor injuries, and the suspects were armed with handguns, police said.
