A Kansas City, Kan., police officer shot a homicide suspect after a chase through Kansas City, Kan., on Saturday night.
The suspect, a male in his 30s, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, a police spokesman said.
A chase started in the 1400 block of Kansas Avenue and ended in a crash into a fence behind a building in the 100 block of James Street, the spokesman said.
About 9:35 p.m., police had observed a suspect in a vehicle who had a federal felony warrant and was wanted in a recent homicide, the spokesman said.
The suspect, after crashing on James Street, exited the vehicle armed with a handgun, police said. An officer fired at the suspect, striking him, the spokesman said.
