Suspect in child case faces three charges

A suspect in a chase involving a stolen vehicle with a 2-year-old boy in it on Thursday is facing charges of aggravated endangering a child, felony theft, and fleeing and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, according to the Wyandotte County District Attorney’s office.

The female suspect, Carol Lynn Loving, 42, a resident of LaCynge, Kansas, is being held in the Wyandotte County Jail, according to a police spokesman.

Kidnapping was not one of the charges filed Friday afternoon by the district attorney.

Kansas City, Kansas, police responded to a dispatched call to 911 reporting the child in the stolen car shortly after 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, in the 2800 block of Freeman Court, according to a spokesman.

A vehicle and suspect description was broadcast, and neighboring jurisdictions were alerted, the spokesman stated.

A captain with the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department quickly identified the vehicle and initiated an approved pursuit, according to the police spokesman.

The nearly 30-minute pursuit reached speeds in excess of 100 mph and was assisted by law enforcement in Johnson County and the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The suspect went south into Johnson County on I-35 and U.S. 69, police said.

The pursuit came to a stop in Miami County at about 234th Street, when the vehicle was disabled through the use of stop sticks deployed by the highway patrol, the police spokesman stated.

There were no injuries and the child was reunited with his family.
