Sunny weather Monday followed by storms Tuesday

The forecast is sunny for Monday, with rain and storms moving in Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures were 56 at 7 a.m. and will warm up to about 79 degrees Monday.

Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms may develop across Nebraska and northern Kansas on late afternoon Tuesday, the weather service said.

Wyandotte County is at a slight chance for severe weather Tuesday.

After sunset Tuesday, a cluster of storms is anticipated to move into portions of northeastern Kansas and western Missouri, according to the weather service.

Damaging wind gusts and up to quarter-sized hail will be the primary hazards as storms evolve Tuesday night, the weather service said.

There will be a slight chance of rain and storms on Wednesday, according to the weather service.

Today, it will be sunny, with a high near 79 and a light west wind, the weather service said.

Tonight, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 58 and a calm wind becoming south around 5 mph after midnight, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 80, the weather service said. A south wind of 6 to 11 mph will gust as high as 22 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is forecast.

Tuesday night, there is a 70 percent chance of showers, with possibly a thunderstorm before 1 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 65 with a south southeast wind of 5 to 10 mph, gusting as high as 18 mph. Between a half and three-quarters of an inch of rain is likely.

Wednesday, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 81 with a calm wind, becoming north 5 to 8 mph in the morning.
