In a great showing, Jalen Taylor scored 15 points, but this was not enough as Sumner fell to Washington, 72-57.
With 15 points in the third quarter, Washington added to its existing lead.
Taylor led Sumner Academy’s offense, going 6-for-14 (43 percent) from the field while also sinking 75 percent (3-for-4) of free throws attempted.
Two other players also added 10 or more points for the Sabres. Saadique Perkins racked up 14 points and Derek Sykes had 12 points. Also chipping in for Sumner Academy were Shaun Rainey (9 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal), Theron Sanders (4 points, 1 rebound) and De’Auan McClaine (3 points).
Sumner Academy Sabres varsity finished the game with 31 rebounds (15 offensive/16 defensive), four blocks and seven steals.
