The National Weather Service reported that at 6:41 p.m., Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Platte City, Mo., to near Bonner Springs, Kan., to near Wellsville, Kan.
Movement was northeast at 35 mph. Kansas City, Kan., and Bonner Springs, Kan., are in the path of the storm.
Half-inch hail and winds higher than 40 mph will be possible with these storms, the weather service said.
Wyandotte County remains under a severe thunderstorm watch until 10 p.m. Saturday.
