Storyteller to discuss folk tales tonight

Storyteller Joyce Slater will tell animal-themed tales and will lead a discussion of “The White Cat” and “The Seal’s Skin” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, at the Bonner Springs City Library, 201 N. Nettleton Ave., Bonner Springs, Kansas.

The adult summer reading program takes place outdoors on the library patio with Zoom participation an option. Email [email protected] for the Zoom link.

This will be the last of the adult summer reading programs at the Bonner library.

Also planned during August in Bonner Springs is an electronics recycling program.

The event will be 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Bonner Springs Farmers’ Market, near Kelly Murphy Park, 215 Elm St., Bonner Springs.

Midwest Recycling Center will be at the Farmers’ Market to take and recycle electronics. They will wipe all hard drives.

The service is free, although there are exceptions to what may be accepted, mainly fees for old TVs and old computer screens. Check the website at https://mrcrecycling.net/recycling-fees for a full list of what may be recycled.

The KU Chess Club will meet from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 14, at the Bonner Springs Farmers’ Market, near Kelly Murphy Park, 215 Elm St., Bonner Springs.

The public may join in with the KU Chess Club at the educational event. Tables, boards and pieces are provided.
