Storms, rain in forecast, as temperatures drop

Today’s high will be near 79 as showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service.

There will be on and off storm chances Friday afternoon and evening with a potential of lightning, heavy rain and gusty winds, the weather service said.

Isolated to scattered storms are possible on Saturday and Sunday, with strong storms possible Saturday, according to the weather service.

On Friday morning, there was a line of storms to the west of the Kansas City area that may be moving east later in the day. Wyandotte County experienced a little rain earlier this morning.

Today, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 10 a.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 79 with a southwest wind of 6 to 8 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Tonight, there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of 68, according to the weather service. A southwest wind of 6 mph will become light and variable after midnight. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Saturday, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 8 a.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 84 with a south southwest wind of 6 to 11 mph. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Saturday night, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8 p.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 65 with a west southwest wind of 5 to 8 mph, becoming calm in the evening. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected.

Sunday, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., with a high near 89 and a light south wind, the weather service said.

Sunday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 8 p.m., with a low of 69, according to the weather service. Between a half and three-quarters of an inch of rain is possible.

Monday, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 8 a.m., with a high near 85, the weather service said.

Monday night, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8 p.m., with a low of 66, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 80, the weather service said.

Tuesday night, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m., with a low of 62, according to the weather service.

Wednesday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 83, the weather service said.

Wednesday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 64, according to the weather service.

Thursday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 86, the weather service said.
