Thunderstorms will be possible today ahead of a cold front that will be crossing the region later today, according to the National Weather Service.
Some of the storms could become strong to severe, according to the weather service. The storms could start after 5 p.m. today.
Wyandotte County will be in an area of slight risk for severe storms, the weather service said. The chance of storms and rains is 30 percent here. The chance of storms increases overnight to 80 percent, before 4 a.m.
The primary threats to the area will be gusty to damaging winds, hail, dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning, and moderate to locally heavy rainfall, according to the weather service. The tornado threat is low.
Today’s high will be 83 degrees, the weather service said. Tonight’s low will be around 60.
Quieter, cooler conditions can be expected behind the frontal passage for the upcoming weekend, according to the weather service.
