Storms possible today

A few isolated to widely scattered showers and storms are possible this morning, according to the National Weather Service.

The storms are not expected to be severe, but small hail or briefly gusty winds are possible in the strongest storms, the weather service said.

More widespread thunderstorm activity is expected this afternoon and evening across the outlook area, according to the weather service. A few of the storms could become strong to severe, producing large hail, damaging winds and local flooding.

One final round of storms is possible after midnight, the weather service said. Small hail and local flooding are possible with this round, if it develops.

The forecast for Wyandotte County says the chance of precipitation is 40 percent, mainly after 1 p.m. today, the weather service said. Today’s high will be 87 with a south southwest wind of 5 to 11 mph, and new rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch.

Tonight, the chance of rain and storms is 60 percent here, mainly between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 65 tonight.

Tuesday, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, the weather service said, with a high near 80 and a north wind of 7 mph.

Tuesday night, the low will be around 64 with a north northeast wind of 3 to 6 mph, according to the weather service.

Wednesday, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 82 with an east northeast wind of 5 mph.

Wednesday night, there is a 20 percent chance of showers before 1 a.m., with a low of 63, according to the weather service.

Thursday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 84, the weather service said.

Thursday night, the low will be around 64, according to the weather service.

Friday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 86, the weather service said.

Friday night, there will be a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m., with a low of 68, according to the weather service.

Saturday, there will be a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high of 85, the weather service said.

Saturday night, there will be a 40 percent chance of showers, with a low of 64, according to the weather service.

Sunday, there will be a high of 78 with partly sunny skies, the weather service said.
