Storms, hot weather in today’s forecast

Showers and storms are possible today, mainly after 4 p.m. in Wyandotte County, and the high should reach 89, according to the National Weather Service.

A few strong to marginally severe storms, with hail and gusty winds, are possible today, the weather service said.

Showers and storms also are likely Saturday, with no severe weather expected, according to the weather service.

Today’s high will be 89, and Saturday’s high will be near 80.

On Monday, the Fourth of July, the high will be near 94, the weather service said. The heat index could be over 100 on Monday afternoon.

While there is a chance for isolated storms on Sunday and Monday, it will be mostly dry, according to the weather service.

Heat and humidity will build back into the forecast next week, according to the weather service. Hot and humid conditions will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Today, there will be a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 89 with a light and variable wind becoming north northeast 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Tonight, there is a 90 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after midnight, according to the weather service. The low will be around 69 with an east northeast wind of 5 to 7 mph, becoming calm after midnight. Between a half and three-quarters of an inch of rain is possible.

Saturday, there is an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 80 with a light and variable wind becoming east southeast 5 to 7 mph in the morning. Between a half and three-quarters of an inch of rain is possible.

Saturday night, there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of 68, according to the weather service. An east wind will be 3 to 6 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Sunday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 88 and a southeast wind of 3 to 6 mph, the weather service said. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected.

Sunday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 74, according to the weather service.

On Monday, the Fourth of July, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 94, the weather service said.

Monday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 78, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, it will be sunny and hot, with a high near 97, the weather service said.

Tuesday night, there is a 30 percent chance of showers after 1 a.m., with a low of 78, according to the weather service.

Wednesday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers, with a high near 96, the weather service said.

Wednesday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers, with a low of 74, according to the weather service.

Thursday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers, with a high near 90, the weather service said.
