Storm system moving into region

A storm system is moving into the region, with snow possible Tuesday in areas north of the Kansas City, Kan., area.

Wyandotte County is not in the area where snow is predicted currently, according to National Weather Service maps.

In Wyandotte County, there may be mostly rain for much of the storm, the weather service said.

In St. Joseph, Mo., and to the north, some heavy snow is possible. Blizzard conditions are possible in central Kansas to Nebraska, according to the weather service.

Today, there is a 40 percent chance of rain after 4 p.m., the weather service said. A light east northeast wind will increase to 9 to 14 mph in the morning, with gusts as high as 18 mph.

Tonight, there is a 90 percent chance of rain, mainly after 9 p.m., with a low of 43, according to the weather service. The east wind will be 14 to 20 mph with gusts as high as 29 mph, the weather service said.

Tuesday, there is a 60 percent chance of rain, mainly after noon. The high will be 49, the weather service said.

Tuesday night, there is a 30 percent chance of rain before 9 p.m., then a chance of snow between 9 p.m. and midnight, according to the weather service. The low will be around 22. The northwest wind will be 14 to 21 mph with gusts as high as 29 mph.

Wednesday, it will be partly sunny with a high near 32, according to the weather service, and a northwest wind of 8 to 14 mph gusting as high as 18 mph.

Wednesday night, it will be mostly clear with a low around 21, the weather service said.
