For those who are interested in the weather, a storm spotter training seminar will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Kansas City Kansas Community College, Dr. Burke Technical Education Center, 6565 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas.
The Wyandotte County Emergency Management Department is the host of the seminar, which will help residents be prepared to deal with severe weather.
The seminar is free and open to the public. Staff from the National Weather Service office in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, will lead the seminar.
Those attending will learn to recognize, identify and relay information about severe weather. They also will learn the difference between severe and non-severe weather. They will learn how to and what to report to the National Weather Service.
