Storm results in some power outages in KCK

The BPU’s power outage map showed more than 2,000 persons were without power in Kansas City, Kansas, about 9 a.m. Saturday, following an early-morning storm.

An early morning storm with high winds left Wyandotte County with downed tree limbs and power outages.

According to the Board of Public Utilities’ power outage map, there were more than 2,300 residents without power as of about 9 a.m. Saturday. The number was reduced to more than 1,600 without power as of about 9:30 a.m.

The National Weather Service reported that slightly more than a half-inch of rain fell this morning at the downtown airport. The storm included high winds and lightning.

Skies are clear and there should be a high near 82 today, according to the National Weather Service forecast, with winds becoming northwest 8 to 13 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight should be clear with a low of 60 and west wind of 5 to 13 mph, according to the weather service.

Sunday’s forecast is sunny with a high near 83 and a north northwest wind of 6 to 11 mph, the weather service said.
