Storm leaves slick roads, colder temperatures in its wake

Additional snow fell last night in parts of Wyandotte County, resulting in some slick roads on Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, precipitation with this winter storm has come to an end.


The light and fluffy composition of the snow made it easily kicked up by road traffic, significantly reducing visibility in the morning commute, the weather service said.

Cold, dry air is making its way into the region, keeping highs in the low to mid 30s, according to the weather service. A second surge of cold, dry air will move in, resulting in bitter cold overnight lows Friday into Saturday, the weather service said.

Bitterly below zero wind chills are expected tonight, the weather service said. The low will be 5, but a 5 mph wind at 5 degrees will result in a wind chill of minus 4.

Warmer weather featuring above normal readings is expected by Sunday, into next week, according to the weather service.


Today, it will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 34, the weather service said. A north northwest wind of 6 to 15 mph will gust as high as 23 mph.

Tonight, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 5, according to the weather service. A north wind of 6 to 11 mph will gust as high as 20 mph.

Saturday, it will be sunny, with a high near 36, the weather service said. A light and variable wind will become south southwest 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Winds may gust as high as 20 mph.

Saturday night, it will be clear, with a low of 29, according to the weather service. A southwest wind of 10 to 14 mph will gust as high as 24 mph.

Sunday, it will be sunny, with a high near 60, the weather service said. A southwest wind of 10 to 14 mph may gust as high as 21 mph.

Sunday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 42, according to the weather service.

Monday, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 57, the weather service said.

Monday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 34, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, it will be sunny, with a high near 61, the weather service said.

Tuesday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 42, according to the weather service.

Wednesday, it will be sunny, with a high near 71, the weather service said.

Wednesday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 48, according to the weather service.

Thursday, it will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 67, the weather service said.
