Southbound I-635 to close at I-70 from Friday night to Monday morning

Southbound I-635 will be closed at 8 p.m. Friday at I-70. The closure will remain in place until 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11. A failed storm sewer pipe under the road will be replaced during the closure.

All southbound lanes of I-635 at I-70 will be closed this weekend, starting Friday night, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

All southbound traffic will have to exit to westbound I-70, KDOT spokesman stated.

KDOT is closing I-635 south in order to replace a failed storm sewer pipe under the road, according to the spokesman.

As part of the closure, the ramps from eastbound State Avenue to southbound I-635 also will be closed, KDOT stated.

The closures will begin at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, and continue through 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, according to the spokesman.

A detour will be in place for motorists wanting to continue south on I-635, KDOT stated. They will exit to westbound I-70, then exit at 57th Street, get on eastbound I-70 to southbound I-635.

Motorists are asked to slow down and pay extra attention while driving in work zones, KDOT stated.
