A South Patrol police station project is scheduled to be discussed at a Unified Government standing committee meeting Monday at City Hall, 701 N. 7th St.
The financing for the project is on the agenda of the Economic Development Standing Committee meeting. That committee meeting will follow the Neighborhood and Community Development Standing Committee meeting at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8.
The new police station is proposed for the site of the old Structural Steel plant in the Argentine area, near 24th and Metropolitan Avenue. A new plan of financing is being proposed after the state decided not to locate the parole office there.
The new police station site is proposed for a site next to a new Walmart Neighborhood Market opening in Argentine this fall.
The new financing proposal includes separate cost figures for both a police station and a tactical unit facility, although there is no recommendation at this time for the tactical unit to move to the South Patrol station.
Also on the Economic Development Committee agenda is a revised ordinance that sets the occupation tax amount for digital outdoor advertising services, and a new ordinance on outdoor digital advertising. A proposed tax is $2,500 for digital outdoor advertising sign faces of less than 300 square feet, and $10,000 per digital outdoor advertising sign faces of 300 square feet or more.
