About 1,897 electric customers in Kansas City, Kan., were reported without electrical power about 11:15 a.m. June 5, according to the Board of Public Utilities’ power outage map.
More than 1,400 of the customers were located on the south side of Kansas City, Kan., near the Shawnee, Kan., border, according to the map.
High winds have moved through Wyandotte County, and the area’s severe thunderstorm warning was extended until 11:45 a.m.
Within an hour, the BPU reported that it had restored power to many customers, and there were 511 customers without power as of 12:10 p.m. The 1,400 customers on the south side were restored.
