Snow to clear out by midday

Around 2 inches of snow fell on Monday night and Tuesday morning in Wyandotte County.

Light snow continues through the morning hours in Wyandotte County.

Accumulation is concentrated on grassy and elevated surfaces, the National Weather Service said.

There are light accumulations on roadways, and slick roads are expected, according to the weather service. Travelers should be cautious, especially on bridges and overpasses. A winter weather advisory is in effect through 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Temperatures will rise to a high near 44 today before falling overnight to a low near 31, the weather service said. The temperature was 33 at 9 a.m.

A freeze warning is in effect from 10 p.m. Tuesday until 9 a.m. Wednesday, according to the weather service.

The freeze tonight could kill crops, vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing, the weather service said.

Residents should protect tender plants from the cold. They also should wrap, drain or allow outdoor water pipes to drip slowly, according to the weather service.

In-ground sprinkler systems should be drained, and above-ground pipes should be cocvered to protect them from freezing, the weather service said.
Today, there is a 60 percent chance of rain and snow likely before noon, then a slight chance of rain between noon and 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 44 with a north northwest wind of 5 to 13 mph. From 1 to 2 inches of snow is possible.

Tonight, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 31 and a northwest wind of 7 to 15 mph, gusting as high as 22 mph, according to the weather service.

Wednesday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 50 and a northwest wind of 7 to 15 mph, gusting as high as 22 mph, the weather service said.

Wednesday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low around 31, according to the weather service. A northwest wind of 5 to 9 mph will become calm in the evening.

Thursday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 58 and a calm wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the morning, the weather service said.

Thursday night, there is a 30 percent chance of rain, with a low of 44, according to the weather service. Less than a tenth of an inch is possible.

Friday, there is a 40 percent chance of rain, with a high near 59, the weather service said.

Friday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 45, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 63, the weather service said.

Saturday night, the low will be around 40, according to the weather service.

Sunday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 67, the weather service said.

Sunday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 52, according to the weather service.

Monday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 78, the weather service said.
