Thunderstorm chances will increase slowly today into tonight, with the threat of storms persisting at least into early next week, according to the National Weather Service forecast.
Today’s high will be near 88, and the chance of rain is 10 percent. Tonight, the chance of rain is 60 percent. Between a quarter and half of an inch of rain is possible mainly after 10 p.m.
Some thunderstorms could produce heavy rainfall tonight into Saturday, particularly across far northern Missouri and far northeast Kansas which may lead to localized flooding.
In addition, a few strong thunderstorms are possible on Saturday. Damaging winds are the primary threat with storms Saturday.
Saturday’s high may be near 89, with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. A 30 percent chance of rain is also in Sunday’s forecast.
