Today’s forecast from the National Weather Service contains a 20 percent chance of showers before 3 p.m.
According to weather service information, the largest areas of rain today are to the south and east of the Kansas City area. There could be areas of flooding in southern and eastern Missouri.
In Wyandotte County, the rivers were well under flood stage. According to National Weather Service hydrology reports, Big Creek near Blairstown, Missouri, is in moderate flood stage; the Blackwater River near Valley City in the Warrensburg, Missouri, area reached moderate flood stage; and the South Grand River near Urich, Missouri, reached minor flood stage.
Expected additional rainfall amounts are small enough that flood waters probably will not get any worse and may begin receding in these areas, according to the weather service.
Today, the high in Wyandotte County will be near 47 with a north wind of 6 to 8 mph and a 20 percent chance of rain, the weather service said.
Tonight, the low will be around 35 with a north wind of 5 mph becoming calm in the evening, according to the weather service.
Wednesday, it will be partly sunny with a high near 58, the weather service said, and a light and variable wind.
Wednesday night, there is a 20 percent chance of showers with a low of 39, according to the weather service. A calm wind will become north around 6 mph after midnight.
Thursday, expect a high of 55 with partly sunny skies and a north wind of 7 to 10 mph, the weather service said.
Thursday night, there is a 20 percent chance of showers before 1 a.m., with a low of 34, according to the weather service.
Friday, the high will be near 57 with mostly sunny skies, the weather service said.
Friday night, the low will be around 37 with mostly cloudy skies, according to the weather service.
Saturday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers before 1 p.m., with a high near 54, the weather service said.
Saturday night, there is a 30 percent chance of rain before 3 a.m., then a chance of rain and snow showers between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., then a chance of snow showers after 4 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 32.
Easter Sunday, there is a 50 percent chance of rain and snow showers, with a high near 46, the weather service said.
Sunday night, expect a 40 percent chance of showers, with a low of 31, according to the weather service.
Monday, the high will be near 50 with partly sunny skies, the weather service said.
