Showers today and Tuesday, temperatures falling

Showers are expected today and Tuesday, leading to heavy rainfall in some places, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Cooler temperatures are expected the remainder of the week, the weather service said. Temperatures will fall from a high of about 70 today to around 55 by 4 p.m., according to the weather service.

Severe weather is not expected, the weather service said.

Thursday night, there will be another chance of rain, according to the weather service. The weekend forecast is dry with highs in the low 60s.

Today, there is a 100 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. After morning rains, more showers and possibly a thunderstorm are possible between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., then showers after 4 p.m., the weather service said. Temperatures will fall to around 55 by 4 p.m. A south wind of 8 to 13 mph will become north northwest in the afternoon, and winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain are possible.

Tonight, there is a 60 percent chance of showers before 1 a.m., then a slight chance of showers after 4 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 44 with a north northwest wind of 5 to 8 mph. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Tuesday, there is a 10 percent chance of showers before 7 a.m., the weather service said. Cloudy skies will gradually become sunny, with a high near 57 and a north northwest wind of 9 to 15 mph, gusting to 26 mph.

Tuesday night, it will be clear, with a low of 39 and a northwest wind of 3 to 6 mph, according to the weather service.

Wednesday, it will be sunny, with a high near 63 and a light and variable wind becoming east around 5 mph in the afternoon, the weather service said.

Wednesday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 45, according to the weather service.

Thursday, it will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 62, the weather service said.

Thursday night, there is a 30 percent chance of showers, with a low of 45, according to the weather service.

Friday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high of 60, the weather service said.

Friday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 41, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 61, the weather service said.

Saturday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 43, according to the weather service.
