A shooting suspect and a child were found deceased this morning in a residence at 55th and Everett, according to a spokesman for the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect had gone to the residence at 55th and Everett and was barricaded in it after a shooting at Welborn Park, 55th and Jodee Lane, the spokesman stated. It is thought that the suspect shot himself and the children.
Another child at the residence at 55th and Everett was taken to a hospital, according to the spokesman.
Police and Sheriff’s officers, including a SWAT team, were called to the residence.
At Welborn Park about 7:09 a.m. Wednesday, a female in her late 20s was shot, and was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the spokesman. She was the suspect’s girlfriend.
Capt. Kyle Harvey, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, said many details of the case are still being gathered and are under investigation, and are expected to be forthcoming later.
