Two persons were shot by a suspect Friday in the northeast area of Kansas City, Kansas, according to a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
A suspect had minor injuries after he shot at police and police returned fire in the officer-involved shooting, according to the spokesman.
According to the spokesman, two shooting victims had injuries, and were taken to the hospital.
The officer was not injured, according to the report. The area listed in the incident was in the 900 block of Haskell Avenue.
The spokesman stated that officers were called to the 900 block of Haskell on a shooting about 10:06 a.m. Feb. 14.
When they arrived, officers found a woman who had been shot inside the residence and who had sustained critical injuries.
The suspect had fled to the area of 11th and Quindaro, according to the police spokesman, where the suspect shot and tried to rob a passerby of a vehicle.
The passerby was able to flee to the 3200 block of Parkwood Boulevard, and sustained a non-life-threatening injury, the spokesman stated.
Responding officers saw the suspect, the suspect shot at an officer, and the officer returned fire, the spokesman stated.
The officer was not struck, and the victim sustained a minor injury during the exchange, the spokesman stated. The suspect was then taken into custody without further incident, police stated.
