Police responded about 12:59 p.m. Sept. 1 to the 2600 block of Quindaro on a reported shooting.
According to a police spokesman, officers saw a woman in her late 20s lying on the sidewalk with an apparent gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital, where she died from her injuries, police stated.
An initial investigation revealed that a vehicle with several individuals pulled into the area and parked along the street, according to the spokesman.
After leaving the vehicle, the individuals engaged in conversation with a resident who was standing on a nearby porch.
A confrontation quickly escalated to a point where gunfire was exchanged between the parties, according to the spokesman. Once the woman was struck, others fled in the vehicle, according to police.
The individuals later went to a hospital with minor injuries, police stated. The resident also sustained minor injuries.
The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Major Case Unit is investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS, police stated.
