A Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Department employee died in a shooting on Saturday, Oct. 5, in the 2800 block of North 76th Street, according to a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
The victim was in his late 50s, and died from injuries from a gunshot wound. He was inside his home near 76th and Longwood at the time, according to police. He was not on duty. Police were called to the residence about 7:51 p.m.
Police have taken a person of interest into custody, the spokesman stated.
