Shepherd’s Center program to salute Croatian heritage

The Shepherd’s Center will hold its Adventures in Learning program on Friday, Aug. 21, at Grace Lutheran Church, 3333 Wood Ave., Kansas City, Kan.

The Shepherd’s Center is an interfaith, multicultural nonprofit organization that promotes and supports successful aging.

The theme of the day will be “A Salute to Croatian Heritage,” with guest speakers from the Strawberry Hill Museum and Hrvatski Obicaj.

Programs include:

• 9 a.m., Health Screenings and Fellowship;

• 9:30 to 10 a.m., Chair Exercises with Mary Bautista, registered nurse;

• 10 a.m. to noon, presentations by David Hartman, executive director at the Strawberry Hill Museum, and Rick Mikesic, with Hrvatski Obicaj, a musical group playing traditional Croatian music;

• Noon, lunch will be served, at no charge. Courtney Mikesic will preside. Those attending may bring a dish to share;

• 12:30 p.m., History of Croatian Heritage in Wyandotte County is to be presented by Loren Taylor or Don Wolf.
