After overnight rain and storms, Wyandotte County should get a break during the workday on Friday, until around 8 p.m. when showers, thunderstorms and severe weather may return.
According to the National Weather Service, severe weather is possible again tonight, including large hail, damaging winds, flash flooding and a possible tornado.
Storms were expected to develop around 8 p.m. Friday, and damaging winds will also be possible on Saturday morning, according to the weather service.
A second round of severe weather could occur on Saturday late afternoon and evening with all types of severe weather possible.
While there may be strong storms on Sunday, severe weather is not expected with them, according to the weather service.
The Missouri River at Parkville, which includes the Wyandotte County area, went back into action stage after the heavy rains overnight, and is below flood stage. The Kansas River in Wyandotte County is below flood stage and below action stage.
Today, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 5 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 86 with a west wind of 6 mph becoming light and variable. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected.
Tonight, there is an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 8 p.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 70 with an east wind of 6 to 8 mph. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain are possible.
Saturday, there is an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8 a.m., with a high near 88, the weather service said. The heat index could be as high as 96. There will be a south wind of 6 to 8 mph. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.
Saturday night, there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of 72, according to the weather service. A south wind of 7 mph may gust as high as 20 mph. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.
Sunday, there is a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms and showers before 2 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 90 with a south southwest wind of 6 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.
Sunday night, there will be a low of 74, according to the weather service.
