The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northern Wyandotte County and surrounding areas.
It is in effect until 9:15 p.m. Saturday. Residents should move to the lowest floor in their building, away from windows.
The storm could have ping-pong sized hail and 60-mile-per-hour winds.
At 8:28 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was near Easton, Kan., about 9 miles west of Leavenworth, moving east at 40 mph, the weather service said.
