A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Wyandotte County and Leavenworth County until 5:30 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
The storm has the potential of hail damage, heavy rain and wind damage.
Bonner Springs, Edwardsville and Kansas City, Kan., are in the path of the storm.
Wyandotte County remains under a tornado watch until 10 p.m. tonight and a flash flood watch until 1 p.m. Friday, according to the weather service.
Residents are advised to go to the lower floor inside a building, away from windows.
