Severe weather is possible this evening as a cold front sweeps across the region, according to the National Weather Service.
The focus of the severe weather will be in areas south and east of I- 35, the weather service said. Large hail and damaging winds are the primary threats.
The window of timing for severe activity looks to be from 7 p.m. to midnight.
The active weather pattern will persist beyond tonight, giving everyone on and off chance of showers and storms through the work week into the weekend, according to the weather service. Temperatures will cool down on Wednesday. Rain is in the forecast for the weekend.
Today, the high will be near 76, the weather service said. There is a 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 p.m. A south wind of 11 to 14 mph will gust as high as 25 mph.
Tonight, there is a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 7 p.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 49. A calm wind will become north northwest of 5 to 8 mph after midnight. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.
Wednesday, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and possibly a storm, the weather service said. The high will be near 51. A north northwest wind of 11 to 16 mph will gust as high as 25 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.
On Wednesday night, there is a 50 percent chance of showers, mainly before 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 39. A west northwest wind will be 7 to 10 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.
Thursday, there is a 20 percent chance of showers after 1 p.m., with a high near 61, the weather service said. A west northwest wind of 5 to 7 mph will become south in the afternoon.
Thursday night, there will be a 60 percent chance of showers before 1 a.m., then showers are likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., followed by showers after 4 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 50. New rainfall amounts will be between a tenth and quarter of an inch.
Friday, the high will be near 67 with mostly cloudy skies, the weather service said.
Friday night, there is a 70 percent chance of showers after 1 a.m., according to the weather service, with a low of 48.
Saturday, there is a 70 percent chance of showers with a high near 56, the weather service said.
