Several planning and zoning items on UG agenda tonight

The Unified Government Commission plans to meet at 7 p.m. May 1 at the Commission Chambers, lobby level, City Hall, 701 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kan.
Several planning and zoning items are on the agenda.
Some of the items on the agenda:

  • A presentation of the Heart Safe Designation by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to the Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department for recognition as a Heart Safe Community.
  • A request to close a portion of Harvester-Brinkerhoff Road under U.S. 69 bridges which cross the Missouri River. Two bridges will be replaced. The request is from the Missouri Department of Transportation and Kansas Department of Transportation. The location is 7th Street north of Kindleberger in the Fairfax district.
  • A special use permit application renewal for two horses at 12126 Leavenworth Road. Recommended for approval for five years.
  • A special use permit for four horses at 208 S. 72nd St. Recommended for two horses for two years.
  • A special use permit for two storage units at 956 Osage Ave.
  • Renewal of a special use permit for a dirt fill at 7615 Swartz Road, recommended for denial.
  • Preliminary and final plan review for a community center and classrooms for the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 111 S. 72nd St.  It is a 4,456-square-foot addition.
  • An ordinance to amend the UG’s legal authority to enforce the programs set out in a partial consent decree with the Environmental Protection Agency regarding the regulation of discharges from industrial facilities to municipal storm sewer systems.
