Several events planned for bike month

The Rosedale Development Association is celebrating bike month with events during May.

The Frank Rushton Elementary Bike Rodeo will be today, May 13. It will include a bike repair station, bike safety tips and activities by BikeWalkKC.

The Rosedale Development Association will hold its fifth annual Bike-in Movie at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at Boulevard Drive-In, 1051 Merriam Lane, Kansas City, Kan.

There is no charge to attend the movie. This year, the movie is “The Goonies,” from the 1980s. The movie screening will be a quote-along.

Bike and Bus the 105 is a community event where businesses and organizations along the Rosedale 105 bus route will offer giveaways to bicyclists and bus riders on May 27.

The RDA staff and volunteers will be at a bus stop near Holy Name Catholic Schools near Southwest Boulevard and Iowa.

Bike Month will end May 30 with the Rosedale Retro Run. It is a 5k-Fun Run combined with a 1980s theme, a costume contest and a community trail work day.

The Retro Run will start at 8 a.m. May 9 at Fisher Park, 3800 Fisher St., Kansas City, Kan. A finish line party for all participants will be in the park until 2 p.m.
