Seven Blue Devils earn baseball scholarships to 4-year programs

Seven sophomores from the 2015 Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball team have been awarded athletic scholarships to four-year colleges and universities.

Three Blue Devils will be moving on to Avila University – Tyler Raymond, Trevor Norbury and Danny Kralicek. Daniel LaMunyon will be staying in-state at Emporia State while Tanner Foerschler will continue his baseball career at William Jewell, Jonathan May at the University of Texas-Dallas and Easton Edmond at the University of Nebraska-Kearney. Several other Blue Devil sophs are expected to sign letters of intent.

A first baseman from Harrisonville, Tanner Foerschler was named KCKCC Male Athlete of the Year and Mike Haen Hustle Award recipient after hitting .376 with 53 runs batted in. He also earned Gold Glove honors after handling 578 chances without an error.

A third baseman and outfielder in his two seasons at KCKCC, Daniel LaMunyon was a stolen base leader in the Jayhawk Conference with 32 while hitting .314 with 48 RBI. A Blue Valley grad, LaMunyon also led the Blue Devil pitching staff in saves with five.

Second baseman Tyler Raymond of Brandon, Fla., was the leading hitter among the Avila signees, hitting .331 with 30 RBI. A catcher from Rich Hill, Trevor Norbury batted .273 while outfield Danny Kralicek of Blue Valley hit .171.

A native of LaPorte, Texas, Jonathan May was the workhorse of the pitching staff, compiling a 6-3 record with a 4.96 ERA in 65 innings. An outfielder from Lincoln, Neb., Easton Edmond batted .262.
